Iran Int’l Quran Contest to Be Rescheduled
Head of Iran’s Quran Competitions Foundation Karim Dolati said the contest, which had been slated for April 10-14, will be delayed given the need for preventing the spread of the disease, according to the public relations office of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.
He added that the international Quranic event will be organized at a later date after the end of the holy month of Ramadan (May 24).
The new date for the competition will be announced in coming days, he said.
Iran’s Health Ministry said on Tuesday that the number of people who have died from the coronavirus in the country has risen to 15 and the total number of confirmed cases to 95.
At least 24 people infected with COVID-19 have recovered from the disease after being admitted to the hospital.
The holy city of Mashhad will host 37th edition of the International Holy Quran Competition.
Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization annually organizes the international Quranic event with the participation of Quran activists from various countries.
Quran reciters and memorizers from over 80 countries took part in the 36th edition, held in Tehran in April 2019.
